This group started as a 'leisure wing' of another local cycling club on 10th June, 2012.
In February 2015 it became a totally independent Group, and was officially set up as

GRŴP SEICLO MÔN-ANGLESEY CYCLING GROUP

We have a leisure group ride that starts from the Pringle store in LlanfairPG on most Sundays

all year round - but always check ACG Facebook for latest updates. We also run a few TT and

Hill Climb events, usually between April and September - please visit our EVENTS 2022 page

Social Group Rides

The main reason behind forming this Group

was to create a suitable cycling environment

for newcomers/beginners (also for the fitter /

competitive cyclist looking for a bit of a rest

from hammering it all of the time). This is

achieved this by having regular regroup stops

(including the traditional Sunday café stop!)  and

by keeping to a leisurely 13-15 mph average

pace. No one gets left behind!

About_01.jpg

We also emphasise that we are a mixed-gender

group where both male and female cyclists are equally welcome. Our message to women: The ACG is NOT the male-dominated, testosterone-driven environment that is often found in many a cycling club! See more HERE

Due to popular demand, we affiliated with the CTT (Cycling Time Trials) in 2016 and began hosting some TT and Hill Climb events.

Due to Covid restrictions, we did not hold any events during 2020, and only a handful in 2021. Results and links to full PB records can be seen HERE

As well as participating in time trial events, some of our members have also gained some racing experience over at Trac Môn in recent years.

COACHING

ACG Chairman, Iwan Parry (left) and Gareth Hind (right) are our very own

BC-qualified Coaches.

Both have a
wealth of knowledge and experience in racing and time trialling and would be happy to help anyone with questions relating to competitive cycling.

Please note that, in order to compete in our events, it is essential to be either a paid member of the ACG,

or a member of another Club that is affiliated to the CTT.

In Partnership with

Holyhead & Llangefni Rotary Clubs are organisers of the annual 'On Yer Bike' event that takes place on the first Sunday in July. There are three distance options: (a) 25 Km (family ride) that mostly follows the Cefni cycle track. Then (b) 50 Km and (c) 100 Km Sportives. The 50 and 100 Km routes are mainly on minor roads of rural Anglesey.

Excellent causes (e.g. BHF and St David's Hospice, to name but two) have benefitted from this great event over the years. We have been associated with the Rotary's OYB organising committee since well before we formed the ACG.

The event has been well-supported by our own club members over the past few years.

FOUNDING MEMBERS

The ACG was set up by Wendy and Will Owen in 2015. Wendy is also the current club secretary, and Will is treasurer and webmaster.

They usually organise ACG Sunday 'B' group rides, but are happy for some of the other regulars to keep the 'B' rides going when they are unavailable. A message from Wendy: "A big thank you to all of our members. A club is an association of members... without them, there's no club"!
